go on a diet

Start eating less and eating more healthily so that you lose weight (start something)

go off something
stop liking something you liked before

go to a restaurant to eat a meal

go for a drink

go for a pizza
go to a restaurant to eat pizza

(NOTE: we can't say 'go for a tea')
