HOW TO WRITE A REVIEW

 Link amb exemples de reviews

https://oxfordhousebcn.com/en/how-to-write-a-review-cambridge-b2-first/

First start with an interesting title. E.g. The Unexpected Anti-Hero. It relates to both the book that’s being reviewed and the question. It’s also short and snappy.

Next write an engaging introduction. Maybe start with a rhetorical question, for example:

Are you a fan of the Jazz Age? Then this is the book for you!

Or a general statement about the book that will hook the reader:

The Great Gatsby is a classic, with many twists and turns.

You could also give some background information. Here we use the past simple:

The Great Gatsby was written by F.S.Fitzgerald and is set in prosperous Long Island in 1922.

The second paragraph should summarise the plot (note – we usually describe a story in present tense):

Gatsby is a mysterious character, he has big extravagant parties, and we never know if we can trust him.

The third paragraph is where we introduce the surprising moment and reveal what the main character did and why it was surprising:

  • The most shocking part is when…
  • I couldn’t believe it when…
  • In fact…
  • It was so surprising when…

In the fourth paragraph, give a recommendation! Here the examiner wants to hear your overall opinion. It can be something simple:

  • I strongly recommend..

Or something more inventive:

  • I wouldn’t read the novel again because…
  • Everyone should read this immediately!

But don’t forget to say why!

NARRATIVE ESSAY

En un "narrative essay cal explicar una història. Aquí hi ha un exemple per exemple de la meva primera classe de filosofia.

Has de posar una "introduction"/ un "body" i un "closing". Cadascun està marcat de diferent color.

I took my first philosophy class. Before I went into the class, I was skeptical. I waited outside with my mates and was thinking about what philosophy would involve. I had no idea. I imagined something more difficult but what I got was something quite different. (introduction)

A young man in jeans entered the class and he started talking about ethics. We looked at each other with surprise. By the end of class, I had discovered that questions with no right answer can be the most interesting ones. ( Body)

The experience has taught me to look at things more “philosophically”—and not just because it was a philosophy class! I learned that if I let go of my imagination, I could go further. The class taught me to look at things with an open mind. (Closing)

I am drawing my house.

This is me.

And this is my house has a garden with flowers  and butterlfies.

This is my house .

My house has a big roof. The roof is sort of black. My house also has big windows and a big grey door.

My house has two floors and there are stairs that go from on floor to the other.

At the top of the house there is a chimney, with smoke coming from it in winter.

From the balcony I can see my garden. And in my balcony I have flower pots with very nice flowers.

From my garden I can see the clouds. The clouds are blue but it's starting to rain.

There is a path that leads to the garden and to the entrance of the house. When it rains the path is quite muddy.

When it's getting dark I can see the moon from my room.

I love my house because it's very cosy.

Why is it so important to learn English?

I think English is a language that right now has great importance in our society because it gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to going abroad.

In my opinion, learning a language is very important because you never know when you will need that language, so, learning several languages is always useful.

On one hand, I would say that speaking English can help you to find a better job because nowadays English is a worldwide language and it is practically necessary for any job.

On the other hand, if you speak English you can travel anywhere and people can understand you easily because English is a sort of international language. If you travel a lot it is practically a must to speak English.

In conclusion, to have a minimum level of English is necessary in today's life.
